The 9th Annual Distinguished Alumni Award Dinner will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 in the Terrace Room at the Classics V Banquet Center. Plan to attend with family and friends to honor a few of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and School’s finest individuals.
2019 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients include:
Michael M. Ponterio (1970), Joyce (Hoffmann) Hogenkamp (1978), RJ Ball (1992) and Kevin Donovan (2000).
The St. Francis of Assisi Shining Star Award will be presented to Linda Carlson and the Jr. Shining Star to Marcell Wittmann.
Holly LoBrutto, Sarah Burton and Ashley Burton will receive Spirit of St. Francis Award scholarship awards.
Dinner tickets are $35. All alumni, parishioners and friends are invited to attend this very enjoyable evening. Details and reservation forms are available on the parish website, Facebook, in the rectory and church. Questions: call SueAnn Gallagher at 873-4013 or leave a message at the Rectory at 693-1150.
Dinner reservations will be accepted until September 13, 2019.

Alumni News distinguished alumni award dinner 2013
The 4rd Annual St. Francis of Assisi School Distinguished Alumni Award Dinner was held on Friday, September 20 to honor alumni:
Anna Mae Jones (1930), Donald Holler (1950), Thomas Crainer (1971) Daniel Deyell (1984). In addition, St. Francis Shining Star recipients, Joanne Kieffer and Louise Pattacciato, were honored for giving generously of their time and talents in support of the ideals and spirit of St. Francis of Assisi School and Catholic Education. The celebration began at noon with a School Mass for the honorees in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Fr. Mike Uebler, Pastor presided. The St. Francis School Young Men’s Chorus, accompanied by Mike and Sue Ann Saltarelli led the singing. During the Mass, Mrs. Jones took a few minutes to speak to the students, describing what it was like to attend St. Francis of Assisi School in the 1920’s.
After the Mass, the 8th grade students socialized with alumni then conducted tours of the school. Anna Mae Jones thanks guests for her Distinguished Alumni Award
In the evening over one hundred former classmates, family and friends gathered in Classics V Banquet Center for the presentation of the awards and to celebrate St. Francis of Assisi School.

Fr. Mike and Mark Warren, Alumni Committee Chair, presented the awards. After receiving their awards the honorees shared their memories of St. Francis School. All expressed their gratitude to former teachers, pastors, family and friends for their Catholic education and the value system of responsibility,
service and teamwork that was instilled in them. Donald Holler receives his award from Fr. Mike and Mark Warren
Mrs. Colleen Politowski, Principal; Sr. Carol Cimino SSJ, Superintendent of Catholic School for the Buffalo Diocese and Fr. Mike Uebler, Pastor also addressed the dinner guests. They spoke of the value of a Catholic education and thanked the alumni for their support of St. Francis of Assisi School.

Distinguished Alumni Award Dinner-September 21, 2012

The 3rd Annual St. Francis of Assisi School Distinguished Alumni Award Dinner was held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Classics V Banquet Center in Amherst, NY. Last year's receipents were Jack Gallagher (1960), Robin Schimminger (1961), Paul Gelose (1973) and Sister Brenda Whelan (1975). Pictures at the dinner (from L to R) feature Mark Warren, honoree and Fr. Mike.Uebler, Jack Gallagher -resident of Tonawanda, retired school teacher, former City Councilman and Mayor of the City of Tonawanda.
Robin Schimminger -resident of Kenmore, politician, currently serving in the New York State Assembly as Assemblyman representing the 140 District.
Paul Gelose - resides in Durango, CO, chef and owner of Palace Restaurant in Durango and founder of “Ricky’s Lucky Nuts” a gourmet peanut available in a variety of spices and flavors.
Sister Brenda Whelan, R.S.M.- teacher, author, pastoral minister, currently Coordinator of Pastoral Services at Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.
The Distinguished Alumni celebration began at noon on Friday with a School Mass for the honorees in St. Francis of Assisi Church. After the Mass, the 8th grade students conducted tours of the school followed by refreshments. At 5:30 p.m. everyone gathered in the Adam David Room inside the Classics V Banquet Hall located at 2425 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst for cocktails and dinner.
In 2011 the receipents, pictured above, were Wade Carlson, Dan Penberthy (1977), Monica Saltarelli(1978), Jack Zeisz (1955) and Dewey Bush. Carlson and Bush were accepting on behalf of Betty Mohr, (1936).
